Con Dao Island Fun Facts
Did you know?
Marco Polo visited Con Dao in the 13th Century, on his way from China to Europe, and later the East Indian Company established a small trading village on the main island.
The famous Captain James Cook’s ship, the Endeavour, harboured in Con Dao. Unfortunately, Captain Cook was no longer around the see the island.
Con Dao has a population of around 7,000 people. Over half of the population is military!
The highest point is Con Dao is a whopping 557m or 1827ft!

Con Dao is located close to the equator and enjoys a warm tropical climate. The rainy season is from May through to September. Expect heavy showers that usually last around 30 minutes to an hour in the late afternoon and evening. From November to February the island is subjected to high winds and though this can affect the diving and boat trips, the island is still a beautiful place to visit at this time of year, with glorious sunshine. Average temperatures during the year are 27c reaching a high of 33c.
