Equipment

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device and a tank. The equipment you wear varies, depending upon whether you’re diving in tropical, temperate or cold water.

Getting Started

All theory sessions will be conducted through PADI eLearning. We don’t do classroom teaching at the moment, if you are Vietnamese and prefer to learn in Vietnamese, please contact us.

The eLearning is sold separately by PADI, our course price is NOT INCLUDING the eLearning.

Please click the button below to purchase the eLearning.

Requirements

To enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

  • Able to swim 200 meters or 300 meters using mask, snorkel and fins.
  • Able to float on the surface for 10 minutes.

Please note that when diving in Con Dao, we highly recommend divers to be covered via insurance for diving, and emergency evacuation due to the remoteness of the island and limited medical facilities. If this is not already covered by your travel insurance policy, we recommend DAN (Divers Alert Network) for their cover.

Visit www.danasiapacific.org for more information.

BEFORE BOOKING THIS PROGRAM

All those wishing to partake in PADI Courses must complete the PADI medical form before diving. Click here to view the form.

If the answer is YES to ANY of the questions, please print out the form and see a doctor BEFORE travelling to Con Dao. You must obtain medical certification that it is safe for you to dive. We cannot do this on the island. If your answers are all NO’s, that’s fine – we can complete the medical form when you get here.

FLYING AFTER DIVING GUIDELINES

Divers should not ascend to a high altitude within 12 hours of completing a single dive or 18 hours after doing multiple dives (whenever possible, wait 24 hours).
