Planning a trip to our islands? Recently honored by Vogue as one of the world’s premier honeymoon destinations, Con Dao is the perfect escape but if you’re planning to get underwater, checking the Con Dao wind forecast is your first step. Wind speed is the single biggest factor for boat diving in Con Dao. Because Con Dao sea conditions can shift quickly, we track the latest Con Dao diving weather daily. By using the Beaufort Scale for diving, we ensure your safety, keeping you updated on the current Con Dao harbour status and the wind forecast in Con Dao today so you can plan your adventure with confidence.

Before You Travel to Con Dao

Because boat diving depends heavily on sea conditions, understanding the local wind forecast can help you plan your trip more realistically. The Beaufort Scale helps us understand how wind conditions may affect boat travel and diving activities. When wind or gusts reach Beaufort Force 5 (17–21 knots / 29–38 km/h), the Con Dao Harbour Authority mandates the closure of the harbour, meaning no passenger boats can depart. We use these guidelines to ensure that all Con Dao diving activities meet our rigorous safety standards. Understanding these protocols can help you prepare for marine travel in the region.

Live Wind Map for Con Dao

Use the live map above to see if Con Dao sea conditions are suitable for your trip. For the best accuracy, set the map view to “Wind and Gusts” and check the 07:00–12:00 window, as this is when most boat diving in Con Dao trips depart. Pay close attention to wind gusts, as these often dictate harbour status even when average wind speeds seem safe. Wind direction is also key, as some dive sites remain sheltered regardless of the general forecast. While 48-hour forecasts are highly reliable, please treat any outlook beyond three days as a general guide rather than a guarantee.

Trip Preparation & Harbour Requirements

We’ll keep you updated on the latest sea conditions and the official harbor status. As all passenger details must be submitted to the Harbor Master one day before departure, we need to prepare your registration in advance in case the harbor remains open. To ensure a smooth check-in process, please send us the following information:
  • For everyone: Full name, date of birth, nationality, and passport number.
  • For snorkelers: Shoe size (EU).
  • For divers: Diving certification, total number of logged dives, date of your last dive, shoe size (EU), height (cm), and weight (kg).
We’ll confirm the final departure status with you in the morning. If conditions allow us to operate, we’ll stick with the scheduled 7:45 AM departure.

If Weather Affects Your Dive Trip

If the forecast looks uncertain, we’ll proactively keep you updated. We closely monitor the Con Dao Harbour Authority announcements and will confirm your trip status no later than 7:30 AM. We will contact you directly via WhatsApp, Zalo, or email to discuss the best alternative plan. If the harbour closes, we’ll work with you to adjust your day:
  • Shore Dive : Explore the reefs from the beach (if weather permitting).
  • Course Training : Continue your PADI training with theory or confined-water sessions.
  • Rescheduling: Move your boat diving trip to another day if your schedule in Con Dao allows.
